In the field of hypnosis treatment, there are only two components: (1) trance state and (2) suggestion (verbal suggestion). And effective suggestion is impossible without a qualitative trance state. The trance state itself gives a healing effect, provoking an additional synthesis of Beta-endorphins and creating a habitual quiet response of the vegetative nervous system to stressors. However, with more or less serious violations in the human psyche this is not enough. Verbal reprogramming of old settings, programs and templates is needed. How do we understand the quality of the trance state (depth of immersion)?
When the hypnologist begins to speak, in the subcortex of the object a reaction zone on the voice of the hypnologist (1) is being formed. The voice of a hypnologist is a stressor, which must be reacted. We call this zone a rapport zone. Due to certain characteristics of the voice of the hypnologist, the space of the subcortex that surrounds the rapport zone begins to slow down (reaction to stressors other than the voice of the hypnologist becomes less pronounced), as if the circles diverge on the water from the thrown stone (2, 3).

In other articles, we gave definitions to all qualitative levels of the trance state: from the surface level to the state of Sicorta. The deeper the qualitative level, the more the space of the subcortex of the object is inhibited, the weaker the reaction to external irritants, except to the voice of the hypnologist. It is the states of Esdale and Sicorta that are the most effective. The state of Esdale can be encoded. The number of sessions necessary to establish this state depends on the individual characteristics of the client and it can take from 5 to 20 sessions.
It is in the state of Esdale that deep changes in vegetative (subconscious processes) are possible with the use of metaphorical spaces. Here is an example:
A patient with a pronounced aerophobia came to our center for rehabilitation hypnotherapy. She complained of:
- a strong increase of the heart rate,
- jumps in pressure,
- darkening in the eyes,
- severe sweating,
- numbness in the hands,
- panic attacks.
We spent 30 sessions of therapeutic hypnosis with her without days off. From the eleventh session, the regressive and progressive principles of the metaphorical space were included in the protocol, that is, being in a deep trance state (Esdale’s state) the patient was sent to that period of her life before her symptoms began (regression) and to that time in her life a year after conducting sessions (progression to the future). During the regression, we very consistently experienced the very first incident of aerophobia and removed the emotional charge. During the progression, we created a consistent memory of total healing from this disorder. It took 10 sessions to create a new imprinting. The other 10 sessions went to the hypnogestal and to the consolidation of the results.
Result: the patient completely got rid of this disorder.
Hypnosis treatment in our center of rehabilitation hypnotherapy differs from hypnosis treatment of other hypnologists because we use well-tested and predictable protocols modified by the latest technology and individual approach.
